Shriver/Nadler to Lead Country Crossing Records
PDF Print E-mail
Nashville, TN --- Ronnie Gilley Entertainment proudly announces the appointment of Music Row veterans Evelyn Shriver and Susan Nadler as co-presidents of Country Crossing Records.

“I am very pleased to have Evelyn and Susan join the Ronnie Gilley Entertainment family,” Ronnie Gilley says. “I have confidence that artistic integrity will remain at the forefront as they lead Country Crossing Records with their proven unique and creative approach to the business.”

Shriver ran one of the industry’s most influential publicity firms and was the first female president of a major label in the history of country music when she took the helm of Asylum Records (part of the AOL Time Warner Music Group). With Nadler as Executive VP/A&R, the duo’s collaboration at Asylum resulted in two Grammy wins during their first year of business. The women were also partners in the operation of Bandit Records.

"We've known Ronnie for several years and always have a good time working with him, which is important to us at this point in our lives and careers,” Shriver says. “We're delighted to be reunited with Lorrie Morgan, whose voice we love and with whom we have a long relationship, and John Anderson, who is truly one of the most humble and unique stylists in country music.  It's a different music world these days and it is exciting to play a role in Ronnie's extraordinary vision.  ‘Failure' is not part of his vocabulary so it is refreshing to work with someone who is still inspired by the challenges."

Current Country Crossing releases include Lorrie Morgan’s A Moment In Time, We Are Enterprise: The Album To Benefit The Rebuilding Of Enterprise High School, Aaron Tippin’s In Overdrive, John Andersen’s Bigger Hands, and Lee Greenwood’s Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. An upcoming collection of standards from Louise Mandrell is planned for future release.

LORRIE MORGAN TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN OCTOBER
PDF Print E-mail
lorriethumb1Those who know Lorrie Morgan know of her affection for classic songs.  Those who don’t are about to find out.  A Moment In Time, Morgan’s debut for Country Crossing Records, will be released on October 27, 2009.  The album finds Morgan putting her own tender touch on some comfortable classics.

Morgan, who made her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry at age 13 performing Anita Bryant’s “Paper Roses” and who later covered the Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby” with the band’s blessing, makes herself at home with classics like “Are You Lonesome Tonight?,” “Misty Blue” and Merle Haggard’s “I’m Always On A Mountain When I Fall.”  She moves easily from honky tonk classics such as “Wine Me Up” and “Lovin’ On Backstreets,” to the turn-back-time string laden-production of Johnny Ray’s 1951 hit, “Cry.”

Produced by Wally Wilson (Joan Baez, Lonestar), the set also features Morgan duets with traditionalist Tracy Lawrence (on the Conway and Loretta classic “After The Fire Is Gone”) and crooner Raul Malo (on Freddie Hart’s “Easy Lovin’”). “Break It To Me Gently,” a hit for Brenda Lee and later for Juice Newton, and “I’ll Sign The Papers,” which was recorded by Mel Tillis, Ray Price as well as Morgan’s father, George Morgan, are among the other songs that find new life through Morgan’s loving care.

Morgan’s take on these outstanding classics will make A Moment In Time an instant classic.  For more information, please visit www.lorrie.com.

PDF Print E-mail
pure countryMulti-platinum country music star Lorrie Morgan has been cast in the Broadway-bound production of the hit movie, Pure Country.  Morgan joins fellow country music star Joe Nichols to headline the new musical that is expected to open on Broadway in early 2010. As previously announced, Nichols takes on the role of ‘Rusty’ (‘Dusty’ in the movie), which was made famous in the film by George Strait. Morgan now joins him to play the role of ‘Lula,’ Rusty’s ruthless manager, which was created on film by Lesley Anne Warren.

“The PURE COUNTRY family is absolutely overjoyed to welcome Lorrie Morgan,” producer Wreghitt said.  “To have a Country music star of her caliber sets the artistic bar high and brings additional authenticity to the show.   The combination of Joe Nichols and Lorrie Morgan promises to be a dream collaboration for country music fans and for everyone who sees the show. We couldn’t be more excited and proud to bring Pure Country and Lorrie Morgan to Broadway.”

Morgan is equally enthusiastic about the opportunity. “I never thought my life’s path would take me to Broadway, but when I heard they were creating a musical based on one of Country music’s best-loved films, I knew I had to be part of it,” Lorrie said. “I’m very excited about making my Broadway debut and becoming part of the Theater community. I’m also looking forward to working with Joe Nichols. He’s an amazing talent and I hope Country fans come on up to the big city to see us!”

JOHN ANDERSON RELEASES BIGGER HANDS
PDF Print E-mail
johnathumb2No matter the genre, few vocalists are as instantly recognizable as John Anderson. A mainstay in the country music scene since the late 1970s, Anderson has charted over forty songs on Billboard’s country music charts, including 5 number one hits, and was awarded the Academy of Country Music’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993. The release of Bigger Hands on June 9 is certain to keep that legacy alive and thriving.

As most other multi-platinum acts of his time have faded away, John Anderson continues to write and perform fresh and relevant music. One such example is “Shuttin’ Detroit Down,” co-written by Anderson and John Rich (half of the hit-making duo, Big & Rich), a defiant anthem that combines elements of working class pride and economic frustration due to the recent government bailouts.

Spreading virally through radio and Internet channels, this song is a substantial current radio hit for Rich For this new album, Anderson is reunited with producer James Stroud, who was at the production helm for Anderson’s two biggest-selling albums, the double-platinum Seminole Wind and the gold-certified Solid Ground.

The first single from Bigger Hands, “Cold Coffee And Hot Beer,” is another quintessential Anderson anthem making its way to country radio in April.
